Department of Youth Services and Sports, Govt. of Karnataka has announced Sports Scholarship for the meritorius sportsman for the year 2021-2022. This is applicable to all the Primary and High-School students on merit basis, encouragement of Rs. 10,000/- will be granted to the eligible students.

It is a matter of great pride that the 44th Chess Olympiad will be hosted by India at Mahabalipuram, Chennai (TN) from 28th July to 10th August 2022.
The dream come true event for every chess lover in India is being organized by All India Chess Federation
and supported by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
To celebrate the occasion, we are pleased to inform you that KSCA under the aegis of AICF, is taking this opportunity to popularize chess
at grass root level across the state by organizing a state level chess tournament.
It is fervently hoped that this event will not only be a big boost to the chess activities but will also create awareness among the school children.
Hence the KSCA is organizing Under-15 Chess Tournament on 15th & 16 June 2022 at Chamundi Vihar Stadium, Nazarbad, Mysore.

Charvi A from Jinnenahalli, Shravanabelagola, Hassan won another Gold Medal for karnataka in the MPL U-08 National
Girls Chess Championship 2022 at Vijaywada from 9th to 14th May 2022 and witnessed by Vijayawada Police Commissioner
"IPS Kranti Rana Tata" and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister brother "Y Vikranth Reddy".
The tournament was conducted by AP Chess Association with KL University, Sponsored by MPL and Hob Space.
Charvi is officially selected to represent India in world Commonwealth, and Asian Chess Championships.

Charvi will represent India in the upcoming Asian and World Chess championships.
Pranav travelled to Budapest and played in the Vezerkepzo GM event from March 17 to 26 2022 and won the tournament scoring 8/9 and
remained undefeated with two draws and 7 wins. His current live rating is 2480. He requires 20 points and one more GM norm to achieve the GrandMaster title.
Earlier Pranav had played in the Grandiscacchi Cattolica International from March 1 to 8 2022. He scored 6/9 and narrowly missed his second
GM norm by 0.5 pts. In the second GM_Mix_A Cattolica tournament from March 10 to 14, he scored 5/9 and missed the GM norm by 1 pt.

Charvi A of Karnataka remained unbeaten in the whole championship, thus by securing 10.5 points out of 11 rounds to comfortably win the U-10 championship with 1.5 points margin.
Another player Aadya Ranganath also from Karnataka secured 2nd place by scoring 8.5 points out of 11 rounds. The Tournament was held at The Kangra Fort, Jammu and was organized by Crown Trust under the auspicious of J&K Chess Association from 26th Apr to 1st May,
there were 89 players representing all the states in India for this U-10 championship.
Other notable players from Karnataka Siddi S Rao and Krupha Ukkali secured 5th and 6th places respectively.
Charvi and Aadya will represent India in the upcoming Asian and World Chess championships.

Ojas Kulkarni of Bangalore scored 2nd IM Norm in Category 'A' of Festival Primavera Cattolica Chess tournament held in Italy from 16th- 20th March, he drew the last
round against Hjartarson Johann of Iceland to tally the score 5 points out of 9 rounds. Ojas played against 7 Grandmasters
and 1 FM in this tournament and collectively scored 4 points.

Vedant Goswami of Karnataka awarded FIDE Master title in 2022.
Vedant achieved a highest FIDE rating of 2317 and has scored wins against top Indian players like Abhijeet kunte,
Abhijeet gupta, P Konguvel, Neeraj Mishra, Sharad tilak. Vedant was also awarded the title of FIDE trainer in 2019

Arvind Shastry becomes latest FIDE Master (FM) of Karnataka
Multiple times Karnataka State Chess Champion, Hon. Secretay KSCA and experienced Chess coach Arvind Shastry becomes latest FIDE Master (FM) of Karnataka. In a recently concluded FIDE General meeting in Warsaw Poland, the title was conferred. He is a recepient of 2000, 2002, 2003, 2012 Karnataka State Chess champion, only National 'A' player from Karnataka state to participate after a 16 years in the 2003. He has also won numerous State Open, Rapiz, Blitz tournaments and won against GM R.B Ramesh, GM Sundararajan Kidambi, IM Ratnakaran K, GB Prakash, GM Sriram Jha and equalized against GM Abhijit Kunte, GM Surya Shekar Ganguly, GM RR Laxman IM Lanka Ravi IM Saptarsi Roy Choudary and many more notable players across India.

R. Hanumantha Memorial Cup All India Rating Rapid & Blitz tournament 2021
R Hanumantha Memorial Cup All India Open FIDE Rating Rapid and Blitz Chess tournament was conducted on 25th and 26th of December 2021 in memory of late Shri R Haumantha , Honorable Ex Secretary of United Karnataka Chess Association. The event was conducted by Mandya Chess Academy and Smart Queens' chess Academy under the aegis of All India Chess Federation, Karnataka State Chess Association and Mandya District Chess Association at Hotel Amaravati, Mandya. 323 players participated in the Rapid rating tournament and 306 players participated in the Blitz rating Chess tournament. Top seed of the Rapid event was GM Thejkumar M S of Karnataka and Top seed of the Blitz tournament was Rathanvel V S of Tamil Nadu.
The tournament was inaugurated on 25th December in the presence of chief Guests Sri Rajashekara N IPS,Deputy Inspector General of police, Nagaland, Sri C Chandrashekhar,Chairman & MD, Amaravathi Hotel, Sri C Ashwath, Director Amaravathi Hotel, accompanied by the guest of honors Sri.Nageshwar, Sri Ramesh Madishetty, Sri Venumadhav, Co-founders of Safestorage Technologies and services Pvt. Ltd, Sri Aravind Shashtri Secretary, KSCA and Sri Sreenivas Reddy, Film Director.
IM V.S. Rathanvel (MPL) from Coimbatore, won the rapid and blitz titles on the concluding day of the R.Hanumantha Memorial Cup All India rapid and blitz tournament 2021
In the rapid tournament, three players, fifth seeded IM V.S. Rathanvel, eighth seeded IM. P. Saravana Krishnan and FM Aradhya Garg tied with eight points from nine rounds, but based on his better tie-break score of 49.50, Rathanvel won the title. Saravana Krishnan and Aradhya Garg secured the second and third places respectively.
In the blitz tournament, IM V.S. Rathanvel won the title with 8.5 points from nine rounds. IM V. Pranav (TN), Abhishek Das (Jha) and IM K. Ratnakaran, with eight points each, secured the second and third places respectively. Overall 3 lakhs prize money for both the tournaments and age category trophies distributed at the closing ceremony.
The prize distribution took place on 26th December 2021 in the presence of Chief Guests Sri Chandrashekhar, Chairman & MD, Amaravathi Hotel and guests of Honor Dr B Shivalingaiah Presidedent of SB Education Trust, Mandya, Sri MGN Prasad, Superintendent, RTO, Mandya and Sri K Gururaj Football Coach, Railway Department and Nagendra Muralidhar, Vice President, KSCA.
